Water System Improvements Information - Updated Oct 6, 2011
It has been about five months since construction began on the Water System and there has been significant progress toward completion. Some folks have been fortunate to be the first to have the water flowing into their homes from the new system. Some others may be anxiously, patiently, or otherwise waiting to get the word. This update gives a little of the progress update, but leaves the procedure much as was reported back in May (see below). In update and for review, here is the process:
Water mains are in the ground now at about 95% of the original water districts.
The Curtis Road. pipeline river crossing has been completed and Baker Rd. River crossing will soon be started.
Work on the Water Tower is about 90% complete. (Excavation work to start soon in the Swanton Hall parking lot)
Francis Shores and Verity Shores areas of the Township now are being serviced by municipal water.
We are still working towards an early December completion of the project. (except for some restorations)
Following is the process that happens:
As pipelines are completed, the next step is the water and water lines are tested for pressure and bacteriological, etc.
The Water Line Construction Co. (Pieprzak) then installs a curb box for the resident on your property. You should have completed a location request by now (see below).
Final restoration of the land should also start after the curb box has been installed. (If the restoration does not meet your expectations please come to the Township office and fill out an appropriate restoration complaint form). Some driveway and yard restorations will not be finished until next Summer.
After the curb box has been installed, and Water District No. 1 reviews the engineering data, you will be notified by mail that you may come to the Edenville Township Office to obtain the required Authorization Booklet to be able to run your water line and connect to the municipal water system. (Most residents in Francis Shores and Verity Shores areas have been notified as of this date).

Water System Improvements Information - Updated May 9, 2011
Construction has started on the Edenville Township municipal water project. Currently, the construction company, T. R. Pieprzak, has three crews working on the South West Side of Edenville Township near Francis Shores Ave. and Maplecrest Dr. When weather permits, construction will begin on the east side of Edenville Township.
It will be many weeks after the water mains have been installed in an area before residents in that area will be able to proceed with the process of connecting to the water line. The first step will be in answering a form that will indicate where you would prefer to have the water service lead (water valve) located on your property. This notification has been sent out to everyone in the Water District. Copies are available at the Township Office or linked here for service lead handout.
Once an area has passed pressure and bacteriological testing the contractor will begin installing service leads to the property lines. Upon completion of all of the service leads in an area, Water District No. 1 will inspect and approve each section. Only after an area is accepted by Water District No. 1 will the residents be notified by mail that they are eligible to proceed with the authorization process. After receiving this notice you will need to contact Edenville Township office for a water connection procedure and verification form 50311 authorizing you to proceed. The installation of a water line to the residence should only be made by the resident after obtaining these approvals.
The Township Board Members are asking that the residents please do not run a water line from your home without following the correct procedures mentioned, and please do not contact Water District No. 1 or the Midland County Code authority with questions until after you have been notified that you are able to connect and have the signed form from the Edenville Office in hand.
