SUPERVISOR
Robert Johnson
PERSONAL THOUGHTS ABOUT MY STYLE
The statutory duties may provide a required check list of activities to complete for Supervisors. Fortunately it does leave a lot of latitude for individual Supervisor personalities and allows us to determine how these activities and procedures are accomplished. As Board Chairman I know that it is important to maintain some semblance of order at our Township Board meetings, but I think that it is fair and important that everyone has an opportunity to speak or present his or her concerns. And I try to give a fair amount of time to allow for the exchange of ideas. I feel that this is a basic political freedom.
I am an advocate of volunteerism and try to provide and look for ways for our citizens to be involved in and to contribute to our Township and community. I believe in finding qualified and energized people and letting them do their best. Sometimes Board members and committee members may stumble or we may make a mistake, but lessons learned will lead us to steps of success. I believe in getting younger people involved in our government activities when possible so that they may learn the workings of a local government.
I happen to believe in an unspoken code of conduct for all elected, appointed, and employed Township officials. They should be supportive and professional. They should not use profanity or agressively negative comments towards anyone on or off the Board. I would like for the selected officials to endeavor to make the governing process a little bit better with out always getting rewarded or paid for it!
The project that takes the longest is the project that never gets started, so how many projects can we start?
