The statutory duties of a Michigan Township Supervisor include the following responsibilities:

  1. Voting member of the Township Board and serves as the chairman and moderator of Township Board and Township Staff meetings, including special meetings.

  2. Prepares or delegates the preparation of monthly Township Board meeting agendas.

  3. Will act as the Township's legal agent responsible for contact with legal council concerning Township matters.

  4. Develops the annual Township Budget, or serves as the chief administrative officer for the development of the Township budget.

  5. With the Boards approval, appoints the planning commission members, the historic site committee, and makes recommendations for appointments to other committees.

  6. Will maintain and update a committee appointment roster.

  7. Is the secretary to the board of review, and is a voting member in hardship applications to the board of review.

  8. Is the chief assessing officer of the township, responsible for assessing property values within the township at 50 percent of true cash value. Or the Supervisor may relinquish this responsibility to Township Board approved and properly certified assessors.

  9. Appoint a deputy supervisor.
